Suicide Cleanup in St. Petersburg, FL
If you are struggling right now, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is free, confidential and answered 24 hours a day. Call or text 988.
No family should have to do this themselves, and no family is expected to. One call connects you with a crew trained for these scenes, arriving in unmarked vehicles and working without questions you do not want to answer.
We are a free referral line. Work is performed by independent certified crews.

You Do Not Have to Be Involved
Families sometimes feel they should handle this personally. You do not need to, and the people who do this work would tell you the same thing. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is a real risk, and the memory of doing it is one you cannot undo.
Crews on this line handle the property. You can be somewhere else entirely.
How These Jobs Are Handled
- Unmarked vehicles and no signage of any kind at the property
- Technicians who do not ask about circumstances and do not discuss the job afterwards
- Complete removal of contaminated material rather than surface treatment
- Personal effects set aside and returned to the family wherever it is safe to do so
- Regulated waste removed under a Florida biomedical waste manifest
- Documentation handled directly with your insurance carrier where coverage applies
If there are specific belongings you want preserved, say so before work begins. Crews will work around them where it is possible to do so safely.

How the Work Is Done
Every certified crew on this line follows the same sequence. It is not cleaning, it is remediation, and the order matters.
Step 1
Assessment
A technician walks the property, identifies every contaminated surface including what is not visible, and writes a scope. This is free and it is also what your insurance carrier will want to see.
Step 2
Containment
The affected area is sealed off and put under negative air pressure so contamination and odor cannot migrate into the rest of the property or the HVAC system.
Step 3
Removal
Porous material that cannot be decontaminated comes out. Carpet, pad, and often subfloor and lower drywall. It is bagged as regulated waste on site.
Step 4
Decontamination
Remaining surfaces are treated with hospital grade disinfectants rated for bloodborne pathogens, then cleaned again rather than simply wiped.
Step 5
Odor treatment
Vapor phase treatment or hydroxyl generation reaches what surface cleaning cannot, including wall cavities and ductwork.
Step 6
Verification and disposal
Surfaces are tested to confirm decontamination, waste leaves under a Florida biomedical waste manifest, and you receive documentation for the file.
Common questions
Do I have to be there while the work is done?
No. Someone with authority over the property needs to authorize the scope, and that can be done by phone. Many families choose not to return until the work is finished.
Will anyone know what happened?
Not from the crew. Vehicles are unmarked, technicians do not discuss jobs, and no paperwork left at the property describes the incident.
Can belongings be saved?
Non porous items can usually be decontaminated and returned. Porous items that absorbed fluids generally cannot be. Tell the crew in advance about anything that matters.
Does insurance cover suicide cleanup?
Often yes. Most Florida homeowners policies treat it as sudden and accidental damage. Our insurance page explains how to ask your carrier the right question.
How quickly can someone come?
Once the scene is released by law enforcement, crews typically reach St. Petersburg addresses within a few hours. There is no reason to wait.
